Myanmar: Garment workers face multiple abuses incl. forced overtime until midnight & excessive production targets; incl. co. responses

In September 2024, it was reported that workers at He MeT are facing a series of violations, including inadequate dining facilities, pregnant workers forced to work at the same level as other workers and denied maternity leave, all workers forced to work as day labourers for six months before receiving a permanent contract, child labourers forced to work at the same level as adult staff, no health care provided for workers in the factory, transport for workers arriving late, wage cuts incl. deduction of bonuses and for workers who quit, and verbal abuse if workers don't meet targets. Despite the inspection office coming to the factory, conditions have reportedly gotten worse.

In December 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited LPP (for Sinsay), Takko and MO to respond. The responses can be found below.
