Japan: TV Asahi conducted surveys to assess issues in relationships between show casts and employees, following Fuji TV’s sexual misconduct scandal

”テレビ朝日社長、社内2次調査「不適切な言動はなかった」,” 22 April 2025

[Unofficial description by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]

In response to the Fuji TV scandal, TV Asahi conducted a survey to see if there were any problems with the relationships between show cast members and employees. This was a second survey following a first survey conducted in late January, and was conducted by the compliance department on about 90 employees in departments that require them to dine with announcers or business partners.

While stating that there was no inappropriate behavior from the cast members, President Shinozuka revealed that some employees responded, "They were told by management that it is the role of women to liven up the dinner party."

At the end of March, the company published a "Compliance Handbook" focused on human rights, and announced its intention to tackle human rights violations, by conducting training for all employees and opening a new consultation desk within the company in April.
