[Unofficial description by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]
Sponsoring companies that have suspended their commercials for Fuji Television plan to wait and see whether Fuji can change its corporate culture before deciding whether to resume them.
Kirin Holdings announced that it would continue to suspend the commercial, stating that it "takes seriously the finding of human rights violations." Kao also commented that "we do not tolerate any human rights violations."
Toyota Motor Corporation explained that it will "proceed in a way that will gain the sympathy of customers and others."
In addition to Seven & I, Aeon, Mitsui Fudosan, Tokyo Gas, Cosmo Energy Holdings, Rohto Pharmaceutical, and Nestle Japan have also announced their intention to assess future trends and make a comprehensive decision.
The financial sector has expressed skepticism, saying, "this is nothing more than an organisational problem."
Meanwhile, Suntory Holdings said, "We will consider resuming the commercials in the future," and praised the company for refreshing its management team, commenting, "we believe the situation has reached a point where we can consider resuming the commercials."
