[...] According to Hapcheon Police Station and the Jinju Employment and Labor Office, an industrial accidental death occurred at a highway construction site in Daebyeong-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam, around 7:30 a.m. on August 7.
A dump truck carrying soil at the construction site hit a Burmese migrant worker in his 20s, a signalman, without noticing him. The migrant worker died at the scene. The police notified the Myanmar Consulate in Seoul.
Police are investigating the driver of the dump truck on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
[...] The construction site is Zone 5 of the Hamyang-Ulsan Expressway and is being carried out by Gyeryong Construction. This case is subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act as the Act applies to construction projects worth more than 5 billion won.
